HostFog Panel 1.0.0 for macOS
=============================

Your own local web server: Apache or Nginx, PHP, MariaDB (MySQL),
Node.js, Redis, PostgreSQL (with PostgreSQL Manager) and phpMyAdmin, with a HostFog control panel. Works on Apple Silicon and Intel
Macs with macOS 11 or newer.

INSTALL
-------
1. Drag "HostFog Panel.app" into your Applications folder.

2. Open it. Because the app isn't from the App Store, macOS asks first:
   - macOS 15 (Sequoia) and newer: if it says the app can't be opened, open
System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down and click
"Open Anyway" next to HostFog Panel, then confirm.
   - macOS 14 and older: Control-click the app, choose Open, then Open.
If macOS says the app "is damaged", open Terminal and run:
       xattr -cr "/Applications/HostFog Panel.app"
   then open it again.

3. HostFog Panel installs Apache, PHP and MariaDB with Homebrew, the usual
way to get these on a Mac. If you don't have Homebrew, the panel shows a
"Get Homebrew" button (https://brew.sh). Install it, then reopen the
   panel.

4. In the panel: Components > "Install everything missing", then
Control panel > "Start all", then "Open site".

HOW IT WORKS ON A MAC
---------------------
- The panel opens in a browser window (Chrome, Edge or Brave in app mode if
you have one, otherwise your default browser).
- Closing that window doesn't stop your servers. Open HostFog Panel again to
get the window back. Click "Quit HostFog Panel" to stop everything.
- Your websites, databases, logs and settings are in ~/HostFog
(your home folder > HostFog). Put websites in ~/HostFog/htdocs.
- HostFog Panel runs its own Apache and MariaDB with its own settings, so it
doesn't change Homebrew's configuration. If you also use
"brew services", stop those first: brew services stop httpd mariadb
- The first time HostFog Panel opens, it trusts its own HTTPS certificate
so https://….test sites open without a warning. Your system asks for
  your password once.

UNINSTALL
---------
In HostFog Panel open Settings > Uninstall HostFog Panel. It's a full
clean: every server, setting and log in ~/HostFog, the trusted HTTPS
certificate, the .test lines in the hosts file, open at sign-in and the
app itself (moved to the Trash). You choose whether to keep your websites
and databases. From a terminal: hostfog uninstall (add --keep-sites to
keep them).
Apache, PHP and MariaDB from Homebrew are shared with other programs, so
they stay (remove with: brew uninstall httpd php mariadb).
